In the 50's and 60's, Hitchcock was at the top of his creativity and success, but many people, if they saw in him science and cleverness, ignored the deep emotivity which made his genius. (...)

During all his career, Hitchcock tried to build films which each moment would be a priviledged moment.This iron will to keep the attention at all costs, and then create and preserve emotion, makes his films inimitable. The suspense he has invented becomes a poetic way : his intention is to move us more, to make our heart pounding with emotion.
