Reputedly director Alfred Hitchcock's favorite of the films he made in Great Britain, this chase-within-a-chase film employs one of his favorite devices, that of an innocent man avoiding the police while attempting to catch the real criminal and prove his innocence. Not as well-known as many of his other films, this seldom-seen movie is vintage Hitchcock and on a par with much of his best work.
