In spite of shortcomings, this is the film that best reflects many of Hitch's puritanical ethics. Clift stars as a priest who takes confession from a man who -- coincidentally -- killed a blackmailer who knew of Clift's prevows relationship with Baxter. (Whew!) Moody and atmospheric.
