Alfred Hitchcock imbues this classic thriller with his well-known touches of sustained suspense. Ray Milland is a rather sympathetic villain whose desire to inherit his wife's fortune leads him to one murder. His plan for pulling off the perfect crime is foiled temporarily. Undaunted, he quickly switches to Plan B, with even more entertaining results.
